The 6-hour course is required by state law for 18-24 years of age and available for any adult looking to learn the rules of the road. Upon completion, submit the ADE Certificate to the DPS to receive an Adult Texas Learner's Permit (B-Restricted Driver License). Please note, the permit holder is required to have a licensed passenger when they drive.

Defensive Driving Online Course

Dismiss a ticket or get an insurance discount. This online course is approved and accepted by all Texas courts. Next-day certificate shipping options are available to ensure you dismiss your ticket as soon as possible. This course is the shortest, fastest, and the cheapest course allowed by law and is state-approved for car insurance discounts.

  • Supplemental Behind-the-Wheel for Adults

    Take three hours of additional one-on-one driving lessons to assess your skills, work on specific maneuvers, or gain more experience driving to pass the DPS Road Test. You must have a valid Texas driver's license with restriction B to enroll.

     

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Package is a 1 month program. All 3 lessons will be scheduled on your online account. We do not provide pick up or drop off services.

  • Adult Behind-the-Wheel 7 hrs.

    This package provides adults seven hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a certified instructor. You will learn the basic skills necessary to pass the DPS driving test through individualized instruction designed to fit your needs. Your lessons will be scheduled at the time most convenient for you.

    Adult students must have completed an adult driver education course (ages 18-24) prior to taking their first driving lesson. Students must have a valid Texas driver license with a B restriction (licensed operator front seat 21 or over) to operate a motor vehicle and enroll in our programs.

    If you are 18 and took a teen parent taught program you must complete the program under the teen guidelines. Please refer back to our Teen Behind-the-Wheel package.


    IMPORTANT NOTE: Package is a 3 month program. Students will schedule their appointments through their online account only. Students may only have 3 appointments at a time. Appointments are limited during evening or weekend hours and may take longer to complete.

  • Adult Road Test

    Don't want to wait for an appointment at DPS to take your road skills test? Now you don't have to! Hutto Driving School is now authorized to offer the Road Test.

    ROAD TEST APPOINTMENTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON WEEKENDS

    Price includes ONE road test appointment administered by a certified examiner.

    A $45 reschedule fee will be charged if a student arrives with incomplete paperwork at the time of testing or if student fails their Road Test and would like to sign up for a second appointment.

    State Requirements for Adults Ages 18-24

    • Have a Valid Texas Learner's License with a B Restriction
    • Have a Certificate of Completion (ADE-1317) from completing a 6 Hour Adult Driver Education Course
    • Completed the IMPACT Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) 1 Hour Course (available online)
     
    *Impact certificate must be dated after the completion of the Adult Driver's Education course and within 90 days of taking your road test.

     

    Note*** If you have already processed your paperwork at the Texas DPS, you will only need to bring your learner's permit and the receipt from the DPS.
